  • Why choose a goat cheese?

More and more people are choosing to consume goat's milk and cheeses, but beyond the taste, what are the benefits we can have by introducing them into our diet?

    1- Digestibility and lightness

We know that goat cheese is leaner and more digestible compared to other cheeses, but let's try to understand why together.

The main feature is its lipid content, composed of short-chain fatty acids which, being made up of very small molecules, are more easily digested.

It is often recommended because it is a "cheese no cholesterol” precisely because  the presence of these fats that do not affect blood cholesterol levels in any way.

2- It makes the intestine happy

We can define goat cheese as "friendly to the intestine" for two important reasons: it is rvery rich in lactic ferments, useful for keeping the intestinal bacterial flora in balance; and at the same time it contains very little casein: milk protein which, in those intolerant to this component, causes swelling and annoying intestinal disorders.

Natural fresh goat cheese is produced with raw milk and without the addition of rennet, by spontaneous acid coagulation. During this process the lactic ferments transform the lactose into lactic acid making the cheese more digestible and giving it its characteristic flavour.

    3- Rich in nutrients

The goat is an animal that does not lend itself to intensive breeding or to forced feeding to increase its milk production.

The environment in which it can supply its best milk is the pasture where it can graze freely.

Goat's milk is distinguished from others by the optimal content of iron, mineral salts (calcium and phosphorus) e vitamins (in particular B2) which help our body to grow and develop.

    4- Full of energy

Each type of cheese has its own season, we have already mentioned it in this article, but speaking of goat cheeses: what is the best season to enjoy them?

The best time to consume fresh goat cheese is la spring, from March onwards, when the weaning of the young is over and the milk can be used to produce cheese.

But there is another good reason to consume it this season: the high presence of taurine in goat's milk has an effect natural energy, which helps us face the arrival of spring with more vigor.

5- We have always eaten it

Among the varieties of milk, goat milk was the first to be milked and consumed by man.

Numerous testimonies demonstrate how in ancient times, the civilizations of the Mediterranean basin and the Orient used goat's milk to produce cheese.

ancient food which has always represented the privileged nourishment of infants and children due to its similarity to breast milk.
